ZVERLIT

Sometimes, great products deserve a fresh face.
As a long-time user of Zverlit cat litter, I noticed their packaging—while recognizable—felt a little outdated.
I took the brand’s strongest visual assets: the bold yellow color, signature black stripes, and clear product differentiation by type. Then, I reimagined them with a modern twist.
The result?
A cleaner layout, updated illustration style, and an easy-to-read design system that puts key details—like size, thickness, and instructions—front and center.
Not a revolution, but a thoughtful evolution—familiar yet refreshed.
The original packaging already had strong visual recognition on the shelf, thanks to its bold yellow background and distinctive black stripes.
These elements set it apart in a crowded market, creating a foundation worth preserving.
Starting with typography, I carefully customized the font, introducing subtle details that feel playful yet refined—a nod to the product's connection with pets.
The letterforms carry hints of sharp, tooth-like edges, reflecting a cat's playful bite, while other curves mirror the graceful flexibility of a cat's body, and softened corners provide a sense of comfort and warmth where needed.
This became a stepping stone for the entire redesign, setting the tone for a balance between functionality and charm.
The newly defined color palette stays true to the original’s recognizable vibrancy but introduces refined tones and subtle shades to create a more modern and versatile system.
Each variant—thick, soft, scented, or unscented—now carries a distinctive color identity that ensures quick recognition and clarity on the shelf.
These carefully chosen colors seamlessly integrate with a cohesive shape system, allowing each variant to stand out while still feeling part of the unified brand family.
This refined approach not only simplifies navigation for customers but also strengthens the visual coding across packaging and branding touchpoints.
With the color and shape coding firmly established, I introduced another distinctive design element—a pattern crafted from shapes representing each litter variant.
Inspired by the footsteps of animals, this pattern adds a subtle layer of visual storytelling while maintaining brand clarity.
When combined, the refined typography, modernized color palette, and playful pattern come together in a design that feels fresh and contemporary, yet still familiar and rooted in the brand’s legacy.
The result is packaging that stands out on the shelf, honors its past, and confidently steps into the future.
