How do you design an identity that feels warm, playful, and instantly recognizable?
For Mamamapa—a city guide helping parents discover kid-friendly spots—I started with their initial idea: a star. But stars don’t just shine—they travel. That spark of inspiration led me to something more sophisticated and unique: the dandelion seed. Light. Playful. Adaptable.
The dandelion symbolizes resilience in challenging conditions, simplicity paired with elegance, and a natural connection to childhood and family moments.
Just like its seeds drifting far and wide, this symbol mirrors how Mamamapa spreads its reach—guiding parents to countless welcoming, kid-friendly spots across the city.
The final logo strikes a balance between playfulness and elegance.
Its slightly imperfect circular form introduces an organic charm that feels unique and memorable. From this central symbol, I crafted visual derivatives that seamlessly extend into icons and supporting graphics, creating a cohesive and consistent identity across all platforms.
These derivatives also enable versatile ways to mark key locations on the map, enhancing clarity and brand recognition.
